HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

RESTORATION INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

Restoration International Christian Church (RICC), the church of over-comers, was established ten years ago on October 11, 2008. It was established by a group of individuals who felt a need for a unique non-denominational and multicultural witness of God’s love in the metro Detroit area. Such a church was to be a house of prayer, praise, worship and deliverance where men and women, both young and old can come to know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and develop their God-given talent and calling, to progress the gospel and make Christ known to the world.

It was essential that RICC be a church “OF THE BOOK”, bringing true life to the Loving word of God, and not just a church “BY THE BOOK”, as far as religious traditions and customs go. It was also our prayer that our fellowship would be more than a typical religious experience, and in addition be an experience of the life of Jesus Christ in His word and His people, as the Apostle Paul referred to the church as the body of Christ.

The first meeting was held in the home of Dr. and Mrs. John and Christina Opoku-Diawuo. Two weeks from the initial meeting, on October 26, 2008, the first full-fledged service was held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Southfield, Michigan. This service was officiated by Pastor Solomon Kudowor and Pastor Albert Iwondo. The service was attended by fifteen adults and ten children. Pastor Solomon served the church for a few months before moving on under God’s calling and Pastor Albert became the Lead Pastor of the church. After two services at the Hilton Garden Inn, we started considering a church building to hold our meetings. As November approached, a door opened to us and we began renting from Light House Community Church of God. Renting from Light House Community Church was a tremendous blessing to us, providing us with a sanctuary to worship and to hold various church essential activities.

In June 2013, the Lord made it possible for us to acquire a building of our own, the over-comers Temple, under the leadership of Pastor Albert Iwondo. There was a change in leadership and church direction in April 2017 with the departure of Pastor Albert Iwondo. THe good Lord answered our prayers with a new leadership in the person of pastor Link Howard III. Through prayers, the new beginning and direction of the church led to the renaming of the church to Restoration International Christian Church from the original name of White Stone Christian Church.

We continue to press on in our mission for Christ under the leadership of Pastor Link Howard III. We still maintain our founding principles, and our prayer is to continue in our holistic approach to ministry, ministering for complete restoration-spiritual, physical, relationship and material. As kingdom ministry is our priority at RICC, our prayer is also to continue supporting numerous missionary efforts around the globe and to continue focusing on training and equipping people through divine teachings, strategic prayers, and effective praise and worship for personal transformation, as well as for the community and beyond.

Through our affiliations with other churches, and working in partnership with local churches in the Metro Detroit Area, we will continue to promote the cause of the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. By the grace and power of our Lord Jesus Christ, the solid rock on which this ministry stands, our outstanding team brings the blessing and support to help first our local assembly, and then other ministries and church organizations to progress in their vision in Christ.

From humble beginnings, RICC continues to grow spiritually and numerically while remaining focused on our vision. Even as we celebrate our tenth anniversary, we pledge to always bring our our best to materialize God’s plan for our lives and for others. It has been ten years, we are still standing, and our prayer is for God to make a permanent and vibrant assembly of Restoration International Christian Church for years to come.
